Handloom products are known for its elegance. The intricate designs, vibrant colours and fine texture combined with the skill of artisans make each piece unique.

Weaving was part of life in the southern state of India, Kerala. The states rulers invited weaving communities like Saliyas from other states and were allowed to settle down in various parts of Kerala. Women used to contribute with minor tasks like spinning, starching etc, while men used to do the weaving.

Handloom clothes were suitable for the hot and humid conditions of the state and hence the products were of good demand. Over a period of time, challenges like high Cost of yarns, non availability of quality yarn, lack of marketing support lack of design support and credit took the community of weavers off balance. The younger generation switched to other jobs over a period of time.

Most of the weavers co operative societies came to standstill in the recent times due to low order quantities. They used to get only government sponsored orders only. But within the past few years, entry of a good number of retailers and e-tailers and improved product quality are good signs for the industry.

Handcrafted products which are mostly crafted by women artisans were always a focal point for EarthCare. We decided to give life to an ailing co operative society by launching 100% Cotton Handloom designer Bath towels, Hand towels, Kitchen Towels and many more under the brand “Grama”

Our handcrafted towels are carefully crafted in traditional wooden looms using 100% natural soft cotton yarns and is made by women of the traditional weaving community.

Upon buying our product, you support our cause of giving life to a co -op society of local weavers who are struggling to keep the tradition alive.

We at “Grama” strive to provide the weavers a better and sustainable livelihood by paying fair wages and providing regular work.
