We are thrilled to announce we’ve reached yet another milestone in our Grama journey. Malayala Manorama, a prominent newspaper in Kerala has recently published an article about us featuring our remarkable contributions and good deeds to society.

Grama was established in 2009 initially to give back to the working community by empowering the women in it. We started out by making handcrafted soap with natural ingredients. And now we have extended our business to the manufacturing of herbal shampoos, dishwashers, toilet and laundry cleaners, handcrafted cotton bath towels, etc. To lend out a helping hand to our community during the pandemic, Seema and Soby Kurian, the founders of Grama, set up a Box in front of their home as part of a new initiative called “Book Bank.” The box will be filled with notebooks and pencils, which the kids are free to take. This initiative, now 3 years old, has recently captured the attention of a prominent newspaper in Kerala.

Here’s the newspaper cutting from Malayala Manorama:

The article delves into the history of our “Book Bank,” an initiative to supply free books and pencils to the students that were started during the pandemic from the profit of Grama which is now in its third year. Additionally, it discusses how posting a sign next to the book bank that reads “only one book and pencil” to prevent misuse will inspire students to be more honest and compassionate towards one another.

We take pride in the fact that we did good work and that it was published in one of Kerala’s most illustrious newspapers. Through this blog, we want to express our sincere gratitude to the Malayala Manorama newspaper for recognizing our efforts to improve society and inspiring others to follow suit.
